If you ride in salt water you will still need to flush it, but the strainer keeps all the particulates out.

When mounting on the RXTX, do you just cut the inlet house before the external IC? How do I tell which is the inlet house?

It's got a red stripe around it or a green stripe along it, 3/4" black rubber hose. Yep, just cut it and insert the filter.
