2001 genesis i heating problems
my ski run great for about 15 to 20 min. then overheats. I let it rest and the warning on the gauges changed from overheating to check engine. it would start up and idle but would not rev. The next day a friend checked it and said it started up and rev'd fine on the trailer. I read that it could be a pop valve problem so I am waiting for the part along with a thermosat and spring, since shipping by air is expensive and I don't want to be stuck floating around in the middle of the pacific ocean again. twice was enough. My question is , am I on the right path and also will disconnecting the exhaust sensor stop the rev limiter?thanks, bruddah dave

Dave, first I'd like to say WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!
I'd be checking the water passages for sand and/or other blockages.
The water entrance is at the screen located in the pump assembly.
Check the cooling lines for sand or debris, it can even accumulate in the head covers.
Verify the sensor is not shorting against the exhaust system through the grommet (I kind of thought that was a service bulletin but it may not apply to your ride).
I wouldn't disconnect the sensor under any circumstances, seems it's been saving your engines.

Maybe try pulling the lines below and check for blockage.

How is hose #16? If it's soft or has bubbles on the inside, be sure to replace it as well.

Another way to find out if it's just a faulty sensor, when it over heats...how long can you hold your hand on the cylinder? Is it so hot you can't touch it or can you hold it on there for 5-6 seconds. If you can hold your hand on the cylinders, then it's probably a bad sensor. In either case, I would still do all the things that were mentioned above just for insurance sake.
