R&D intake grates gone bad! MUST READ!

Just bought 2 brand new R&D 1200 grates.Went to mount them up and found a .075 cap between the hull and front mounting surface.Ok,i checked the other one, same thing.I rechecked my shoe with my OEM grate and an older R&D 800 grate, they fit 100% perfect! Called Glen @ R&D and he told me to just bolt the front up first then the rear, that it would be ok.BS! I explained the safety issues and speed losses due to the bad casting and he claimed it would be fine.Well,he called me right back and told me he would send some shims for the front of my grates. What a joke! Here is some pics of the measurments i took.

has anyone tried a worx gpr grate out?

they seem like a better quality casting from what i can tell and the owner told me tghat there has been no reported failures ( so he said anyway)

fyi: i have been doing some personal research into the r&d 800 grates and when i showed it to my dad who is a mech engineer, he laughed at the quality and said it was a joke....as opposed to yamaha's casting which are presure cast (much better but the stock grates i have were cast using cracked moulds, you can see the areas affected but this does not create a saftey concern)

You know what i talked to R&D today about some domes and they were just bitches. They had no time and i asked if their domes would fit in a riva head and he said maybe. Just order them and see! What?!?!?!?! ORDER THEM AND SEE!?!?!?!?! You have to be kidding me! I am so glad i only use their intake and ride plate. What pieces of shit. I hope they fall apart.

Sorry about the swearing i have just been dealing with companies that are crap and have me by my balls at points!!!!!

I had one like that, it would rock if you held it in place. I ended up grinding the top of the back mounting surface down until it would not rock.

The reason you do not see reported failures with the worx grates is they are speed killers. Handling is better with them. I must admit they are a better quality casting than R&D.
