The old SL hulls are a blast to ride! Like a skipping stone.....

On the other hand, I would agree with the dealer. You won't get your money's worth out of mods that you purchase at retail. So don't buy retail! This site, "the other" site, and eBay are great resources to build up a really nice low budget ski.

If it weren't for eBay I never could have built up my Kawi JS550, the parts just aren't even available anymore. All total I probably have less than $500 in two of those JS skis.

There's a lot to be said for having a bunch of fun, and learning, on a ski, instead of just buying one, and making payments. And having the opportunity to teach my kids how to wrench.

I couldn't sell my wife for retail but she's fun to ride, looks great and feels comfy. If you plan on keeping your ride, what's your dealers point??

Certainly don't buy new when there are so many used performance goodies to be found.

Maybe when the economy improves, you'll be able to get retail for the wife? Or better yet, trade her in for 2 20 year olds....that's what I would do...just sayin...they might require a break in period....

You will have a hard time finding a 20 year old that haven't already been "broke in!"
