Gas mileage on modded FX HO

I was wondering, for any of you that have modded FX HO's or other similar skis...didn't the gas mileage decrease after the mod's or did it stay close to stock mileage. the only reason I wouldn't go w/ the SHO would be for the gas mileage. If I can pick up an FX HO and spend $1000 on the RIVA kit to mod it so it goes around 65 and keep good gas mileage then I'd be happy!

Hi, The good news is the HO uses less gas with the riva kit on. Cheers

i did not notice any difference in the consumption after fitting the riva kit
the top speed you get from the riva kit is a best speed of 65
and if you are lucky you will see that speed on rare occasions ,most of the time i get speeds of 61-62 and when i hit that perfect glass 63+ but haven't had that for a while, winter is usually our best riding weather here but the wind just has not stoped for 18 monthes

Wow those are some bad numbers fx160. My friend ran STOCK 61-62 and now hes got full stage 1 and GPSed 65.1. He spent $1100 and he is close to a stock rxt. He's planning to do some rideplate work and some other things for around 500 and will be at 67ish.

i have a jims plate R&D but that doesn't seem any quicker than the riva plate shimed
as far as top speeds go italianstallion314
my best so far is 65.5 but you wont see that every time you go out on the water
and with the machined plate my best is 65.2 so don't expect an easy 67
i'm still working on geting more speed from the machined plate

i know it's not going to blow away a supercharged ski off the mark
so when i race them i just take off and let them respond
usually gets me enough of a head start to stay in front ,provided it's choppy
the ultra 250's can still get past in the chop but not the rxt's
once we hit the flat stuff it's all over till they start to run low on fuel
there is an ultra lx(non supercharged) that rides with us and we are neck and neck off the mark but mid range and top end i drive away, in chop or flat
our rides are usually long enough for the supercharged skis to be worried about fuel so don't hold wot. for too long, that allows me to play out front most of the time

Sounds great, I had an LX last year but I sold it cause the top end sucked. It had great torque & pull up to about 35 then it was a slow go to about 53mph. Anyways, I talked to RIVA about the RPM kit today, I'm just waiting on getting a full report on the SHO before I make a decision. Do you have the cruiser or just the regular. If you have the cruiser, how do you like the seat? If i get the 08FXHO cruiser & add the RPM kit I will be into about $500 more than the basic SHO but still less than the SHO cruiser. With the money I'll save in gas it will all even about in a couple of years.

i've just got the regular seat
in 04 when i got my ski the cruiser had a diferent color and the small seat at the back had the lip like cruiser seats now
the front seat was the same as mine, i didn't think it was worth the extra $900
if i bought a new one today i still don't think i would buy a cruiser
