    help ?

rxp gives me code p0116 after ridng it hard for 5 minutes

i looked up the code and it says "engine tempertature sensor faulty"

where is the engine temp sensor ?

by what the code says it sounds like its not connected or maybe broken but my engine doesn't seem to be overheating so my guess is its just the sensor.

    any ideas ?

The temperature sensor is in the exhaust system, where the J-pipe connects to the muffler. The only sensors on the engine are the knock sensor and oil pressure sensor. If you're getting a high temp alarm on the exhaust sensor, it could be caused by the lack of cooling water from the pump. This could be caused by any obstruction between the pump, intercooler or J-pipe. That's why many run a strainer. If you don't run a strainer, the intercooler could be partially blocked. Overheating could also be caused by doing lots of donuts which reduces the flow of cooling water to the exhaust system... Ron
