Going to look at a '98 Pro 785 this weekend

Just want to get your guys advice on this thing and what to look for. It is a 1998 with a claimed 15.x hours on it. He said he bought it from the origional owner who tinkered with it (you can see it has some mods on it) but the guy now that has it doesn't have time to ride it and everyone else in his family is too scared to ride it

He would let it go with a double trailer for $2500. Even if it has more than the said 15 hours on it, if it looks clean and runs great but just had a reset MFD, I'll be happy. Maybe could talk him down some? He also would be willing to let me take a test ride on the frigid lake there. From what I can tell, it has UMI steering, FAs, gas pressure valves, Hot Seat waterbox, ????

Here are the pics since we ALL love pictures.

So it's a good deal? I have a single place trailer already for the SL780 and if he gives me the double in the deal, I'll sell the single place so I guess it would then be kinda lower in price if ya know what I mean (minus what I get for the single trailer).

Well I almost did let it get away. I was going to buy it at the end of summer last year but I didn't have the money because I was still in college. Now that I got my new career going, I can afford it. I contacted him a couple of weeks ago and he still had it for sale (I don't know how nobody picked it up as he said a few came by to look). Hopefully it's not too good to be true.

Could you guys help me compile a good check list of stuff to check out when I go look at it?

    1. Check compression to make sure it's within 5-10% of each other (around 130 pounds?)

    2. Make sure the RPMs are running between 7750-7900.

    3. ?

compression could be around 120-150 would be good as long as there all pretty even ,you don't have to worry about the biggest problem the exhaust valves .check the trim motor and for any hull or hose leaks and the rest should be good to go
