Thinking of getting a cycle!?!
I'm toying with the idea of getting a motorcycle for summer. With the gas prices climbing fast, I thought that it would be a good way to make my commute to work cheaper and still be fun.
I don't know what i would want. I know i can't afford a Harley or something brand new. It would have to be used. I'm thinking the most i could spend is about 5K.
I thought about a Honda CBR 600 or a Yamaha R6. Are either good?
Any thougths or recommendations would be useful. I would be a begginer but don't want to short change myself in the performace area either as i get better.

How big are you? If you weigh more than 180 , i recommend a 1000. I got a friend selling a 06 Kawasaki 636. $4000. its a real nice bike Charcoal grey w/ red flames!

I'm about 5'11" and about 190 lbs. I think I'm going to go check out a Buel at the local dealer. Suppose to be and 03 thunderbolt 900. Right now Harley/Buel is the only bike dealer in Wausau, WI.
I have to pass on flames, they have never been my taste.

I'm thinking about doing the same. But I'm looking at a hayabusa. nice big bike. More comfortable then the liter bikes. plus I'm a big dude. also wanted a cruiser but they are allot of money. go take a look at the Suzuki m50. u may like the look of the bike. i was also thinking about something like that its a cruiser.
of course i like the m109r but i don't want to spend that much on a first bike

i when i had my cbr f4i i think what i saved in gas i spent in tires and repairs. cruisers are more forgiving then sports bikes. if you true aim is saving gas money thats the way i would go.

See im looking for a bike that looks good. Im not looking to go fast. but of course that is always nice. i liked the lines on the m50 also. but i just need to decide on what to get. i want to only spend about 5 grand on a used bike or 7 grand on a used cruiser. i would love a chopper but that will have to wait...

Cruiser bikes can weigh up to twice as much as a sport bike so the gas mileage should not be an issue there but if for daily commute will be more comfortable...I have owned a lot of bikes but the last two sportys was the hayabusa and the gsxr 1000(hayabusa being a lot more comfortable) for sure and there is a ton pre-owned for sale at good prices...
