SS vs FF results are in
Guys did some back to back testing today at the ramp I ve been running the SS for about 20hrs now no issue to report Comp is 150 150 145 i my Lowell ported 1300 with Ross s 43 TBs.
Its been bugging me to run the FF thinking ill go faster well results are in.
Plate TBs Nozzle Exaust RPM Speed Water
980 43 87 SS 7240 80.2 Salt
980 43 85 SS 7210 80.4 Salt
980 43 85 FF 7180 79.7 Salt
980 43 87 FF 7220 78.7 Salt
Lost about 20-30rpms with the FF. (pulled harder and was allot louder)
By the end of the testing i had done a few passes so engine had hit heat soak will be going back out on Friday to re run the FF with the 85mm nozzle again i am sure it will crack the 80mph.
Have to say tho the ski pulls so hard with the 43s FF and 87mm nozzle feels like a 14/20 in it Ross the 43s TB s have giving the ski so much more bottom and mid range punch still chasing the top end speed.(it will come)
I do feel like that i am running out of pitch i am spining a 14/24 at the moment
Guys what results have you found running the FF have you found it to be faster i know the SS will give you more rpms.
I feel that i am running out of pitch new Impeller is on its way

have you tried the 800 grate ?
because currently your running the 1200 grate, and the 800 should allow you to break 80.

Correct Paul its back to back testing nothing to do in breaking 80mph it has been bugging me so decided to test it.
Also have been running the SS for 20hrs or so no issues at all but running the FF is piece of mine.
Going back out in the morning to re run the FF with 85mm nozzle again.

We tested ss 2 years ago.
Plus 30 on the rpms. If top speed is all you want it is the fastest.
If you had the same set up with a free flow next to you, the stock set up would come off in a hurry.

Mike you are probably at the limits of your dyna fly speed wise. At least in my experience, the dyna goes to 80 then its done, no matter how i pitched it, or what nozzle i used. Taking it to the 26-27 degree range actually killed both speed and rpms for me.
