External I/C for RXT
I have 07 brand new RXT. I wanted to put in Rotax Racing Intercooler.
I have it here, but.... I will need to remove the exhaust resonator to
be able for it to fit..
So, Do I remove resonator and make my boat louder? how much louder would it be?
Or , do I try to find an external i/c that will accomodate my stock exhaust..
I know that the "X" model oem intercooler will fit. although I will lose
the rear storage drop in bucket (not that big of a deal to me)
Help me with suggestions, etc

Now as far as getting rid of the resonator........ Look at the tube Riva has to bypass it. Go up to Vettes & Performance in Merriam and have Tim make you a mandrel bent tube in 2.5". Or buy a mandrel bend off eBay and use that. I have heard that some skis resonate in the engine compartment with the bypass. Not sure they will get a ton louder. Will sound better though!!

Whth The Resinator Removed I Dont Think That It Is Too Loud. You Will Surley Notice It, But Not Too Bad. When Crusing You Can Barley Tell. You Will Know When You Are At Idle Or Just A Little Above.

Does anyone know of an external i/c that I can keep my
exhaust totally stock???
I like to walk softly and carrry a big freakin' stick!

with the resonator remved, tends to drone a bit in the ski at around 3000 - 4000 rpm, so if u r crusing at that speed "like in a speed restricted zone" it does drone on a bit...
You can hear the ski from a distance but its not loud.. sounds about as loud as a yammie 2 stroker gp1300 i think from a distance... but its a nice note....
mine is removed... wife wants me to put it back on.. i dont

I really would like to keep it "stock quiet" by keeping the
oem exhaust in tact. Vlad at PPG suggested using an X model
ext. i/c. I would just lose the rear drop in bucket.. I would
have to figure out how to fab up pipes.
I was just wondering if anybody made an i/c that would
fit and still keep waterbox and resonator. Maybe Jerry can

03-14-2008, 05:51 PM #8Foggy, I was checking out my T-X earlier. I measured the ic air in and outlet on the X and on my XS. They are the same distance appart. I do not know the measurement on your rotax. But what i am saying is all you need is the stock hoses that are on the X and make a bracket for your rotax (if the rotax is the same as the x and xs). I have no idea if you can order the two hoses or the cost, but with a xs ic you for sure could run that setup with complete exhaust and any aftermarket air intake except some kind of rear air.
you might wait till someone puts the relocate ic kit on the X and your in business. I would sell you mine but i don,t plan on running thru hull. The only way i would get the relocate kit is if it showed a good gain in performance comparred to the stock rubber hoses.

i am pretty sure that the resonator holds about 15litres of water as well to keep it quiet... so some weight savings to be had there
it was a biarch to mount the external IC where the resonator was.. I have to thank the piranha boyz for that... i am running a piranha intercooler by the way

I will take some measurements of the RR intercooler I have.
Thanks for the suggestion Steve
