Thats scary. I read last summer about the wipeouts caused by grate failure at high speed. Looks like thats something to check before every ride.

Is that an OEM grate or aftermarket?

Its only $113.00 my cost, my shop said they would try to warranty it, but I have modified it,I am sure Kawi would want to have it sent to them and not to raise any red flags on my ski's serial number, I am just going to buy a new OEM grate and modify it again. I havent seen an aftermarket grate that helps with top speed so I wont be going to an aftermarket grate.

My riva grate for my previous ski (HO Cruiser) broke into three pieces. I noticed that the scoop was bent sideways and when I loosend the screws and tried to pull it off, the pieces fell off. Riva replaced it for free though. You can just imagine what would happen if it broke while I was doing 60 mph..

One of my friends didn't properly tighten the front intake grate bolt on his RXX and it let loose while we were drag racing. It ejected him at about 62-63 and he cartwheeled for about 15ft. Luckily the ski went in a different direction and nobody got hurt. I couldn't agree more: CHECK YOUR INTAKE GRATES! Especially after you've had them off!
