    RXT Problem

    Hey guys,

I was riding this morning around 7:40am just off North Shore, Bermuda. I was going about 40mph when the ski just started cavitating and slowed down to about 10mph. At first I thought I had sucked something up into the pump area, but there was nothing in the intake grate or further up when I checked. I rode an old Yamaha through seaweed once, that's what the ski feels like now. There is no way I could have hit of sucked up anything, I was 3 miles offshore in the shipping channel, where there aren't any reefs. I didn't experience any shutdown or engine failure and no warning lights came on. Idle to 8-9mph it feels normal, as soon as you go any faster, around 4000rpms, it begins to vibrate really hard, suck air and just rev up the engine, quickly.

Any idea as to what could have happened would be much appreciated, I have it booked in at the shop for Tuesday.

btw, it's a 2007 RXT, GH waterbox, Stage 1, 107 hrs. and 17hrs on the supercharger rings.

    Alex

Something is hung up in the pump area. Either debris or the impeller has dug into the wear ring. Take the pump off and the problem wil be obvious.

    MY VOTE:
    wear ring chunked

(also check the pump bolts, and is the prop all the way in the pump i.e. is it not torqued on the pump shaft?)

Make sure your pump is clear. Sounds like something is stuck in the wear ring.

well the ski's fixed, took the pump apart and found nothing. Rode it and it worked perfectly, must have been something that fell out while it was on the trailer going to the shop.
