    fuel filling up cylinders

Have a 1996 GTX just put in a new engine, rebuilt carbs etc. Had it running in the drive way. Waited one week before I could get it in the water to do final adjustments. Engine would not turn over. Removed plugs and cylinders were full of fuel mixture causing a hydrolock. Performed test on inlet valve which holds on vacumm.

Does anyone know how fuel can continue to flow if the motor is not running?

    Thanks

If it was warm out I might check the fuel tank pressure relive valve.
Post this ion the 2 stroke section as you will get more hits.

I would tend to suspect the carb rebuild. Sounds like the needle and seat are leaking fuel to the motor. Are you sure it's gas and not oil...just checking.
    Double check your carbs.

One of your new needle and seats is bad, or you didn't install the spring correctly to make it close.

This is the only way gas gets into the engine.
