    Quick Hlep--Head Gasket

    hey all,
quick question. I over heated yesterday and think I had my head gasket on wrong.

This gasket does not have any marking (ie UP or EX) to reference. All I can tell is that there around all the holes, there is an indention. Does the hump go up or down

    Thanks

    Sean

See the arrow pointing to the shark fin? That should be positioned at the water outlet of the head. The head in the pic would be positioned properly if placed as is over the gasket with the fin positioned as is.

I do not think that a improperly installed head gasket would cause it to overheat. I would look at the thermostat,,,,

I've had worse on a previous ski...anchor rope around the drive shaft, and sucking up a stick at WOT isn't fun either

At least you found the problem before anything bad happened.

I've sucked up a piece of wood before, maybe take the time to check the rest of the cooling passages.
Mine splintered and also plugged the orifice at the exhaust pipe for cooling the stinger hose.
