    computer upgrade

was just wondering about the amount of extra horsepower you get from having the computer upgraded and also the advantages and disadvantages of it.

    have an 07 r-12x

that is a very hard question to answer as the computer alone will be beneficial but to yield the best overall performance other things need to be done as well eg intercooler, turbo, pump.
Depending on the computer you could expect hp increases of up to 20-50hp depending on your tuning ability.
the main problem is the turbo max's out in cfm just above 210hp so that is a concern for bigger hp.
we are running the Autronics SM4 in our R12x it has a lot of features for turbo control we also have fitted a larger turbo and other mods to go with it.
see our post under mods in aussieland

I have not heard of any mods to the computer. Would be nice but no cigar as of yet!! Autronic is the only hope.

You can purchase an Autronic from me (stage 1 kit). Also larger turbos. Shoot me a email for cost.

As well as I can remember the SM4 is not water proof. It is not recommended for marine applications. Shawn looked at it then chose the marine version to use.

We have housed our in a waterproof electrical housing & used waterproof grommets for the cable/wiring outlet. Undo 4 screws & you can take it out. Access to the serial cable is easy, pull out front bucket & connect cable to the laptop.

We also used some foam to make sure it is a snug fit in the housing.

Strapped it to the top of the tank

That was my first question. But advice from Ray Hall, said it would be fine & he was the one that suggested the way we have done it.

As he said, The Autronics stands up to extreme heat. You can imagine the heat under the dash of a WRX rally car, running for hours on end.

How strong are the stock coils and how do you set them up? Is there a way of using the MSD Super coils without using the MSD-4 box?
