GIO, or "what do I buy since the SHO is off the table for now"

    Good Morning bm27,

In the past several weeks I did much of the same research you are looking to do and went the route of the 2008 Ultra 250x, mine is still in a crate at the dealership. The gio issue has been reported as addressed and no longer a problem in the 2008 model. Run a search and you'll find quite a bit of info on the topic, there are also many folks that didn't have the issue on their 2007 units.

    Good luck in your decision,
    Steve

12 hours and no GIO in mine. But even if it did happen, the r and d breather kit would fix it.

To stop cavitation. I did mines w/o the kit by removing rideplate and intake grate to reseal with new silicone and absolutly no cavitation.

It is a kit that blocks off the empty spaces at the pump shoe and ride plate area. This area sometimes causes cavitation and this mod fills in the empty space to prevent it.

Here is skips write up on it:

mine has cavitation, it didnt start doin that until late summer i had a dealer look at the impeller and housing and they said its a lil to much space between that and the wear ring or somethin, i wonder if this kit would just do the trick?
