Removing a Stator-Part 1
Here is a step by step Directions for removing a Stator off a 1200 Domesitic. Other are simular, bolt size may be different. (Sizes given are the socket sizes used)
1.) Start by removing (2) 8mm bolts holding the oil pump, located on the front of the Stator housing.
(2.) Remove (7) 10mm bolts holding the stator cover to the engine side housing. (The cover is located by 2 locating dowels, pry the cover off straight!)
(be careful not to drop the spring and plastic insert that applies pressure to the starter bendix nose. It fits in a boss on the inside of the cover.)
(3.) Pull off the plastic cover from the nut that holds the Flywheel on. (If it came with one.)
(4.) Insert a length of rope thru the Spark Plug hole In the Mag cylinder(Closest to the Flywheel) to fill space in the cyl. to lock the driveshaft from turning.
(5.) Remove the 21mm Nut and lockwasher off the Crankshaft.
(6.) Remove (3) Socket Head Cap Screws using a 5mm allen wrench. (A bit in a rachet would be best way.)
(7.) Remove 2 screws holding the bracket that retains the Stator wires against the engine side cover.
I'll revise this with pictures that we have in due time.
