Ultimate Bildge Pump Install
Pipiduce and I have developed a good alternative for a bildge
pump on an Ultra 250X.
Rule 500gph auto bildge pump Model 25S, about $52
cycles every 2.5 min for 1 second to sense if water is present.
If water present it runs til it's pumped out.....1.9amp draw.
The cycling could go for weeks before you kill battery.
However we elected to install a nifty 3 way lighted rocker switch
also from Rule for $20. Mounted very well once we trimed edges
to follow slight curve of panel in front of instrument cluster. Used
a Dremel with a side cutting drill bit. This same bit, kinda like a
router was used to cut out opening for switch.
This switch has an Off position, an Auto Position and a momentary
manual on position. For the few hours you're in operation, just leave
it in Auto. If in water overnight or extended period, leave in Auto.
We used a 3/4" thru hull plastic with chrome finish. They claim
it is 5 step and will last forever........ Mounted it just ahead of
the cooling outflow. Looks real good in person.
Will mount the pump on hull bottom in front of motor. Will fabricate
a small aluminum plate to hold bottom of pump. It will then be 3M 5200'ed
to the hull bottom. The Rule bildge pump design is clever. You depress
two tabs and pull entire pump free to work on it or replace.
Pix of it pumpin' will be forthcoming soon!
