    XL1200 Question

    Just bought a 2000 model believe is a XL1200. It bogs real bad on bottom side. It is completely stock and a was wantin to see what i could do to get some bottom-end power and over all performance. Its a two stroke so i no it can be done. HA.

    carbs ever rebuilt?? Bogging means theres an issue. adding performance parts to a ski with "issues" will lead to bigger "issues"

    First thing I would do to this ski is check your catalytic converter and your powervalves. these are 2 areas that have problems on these skis. A Dplate & waveeater clips will ensure that you wont have future problems.

    the bogging is probably the carbs, if you are uncomfortable working on carbs you can remove the complete rack and send them to Carl at Island Racing and he will rebuild them for you - I would suggest you get him to change the jetting as well - that's what I did back in 2000

    yes you should also replace the Cataltic Converter with a D plate and install waveeter clips.

    When does the bog stop? what rpm approximately? and how does it perform at that point?

    Cool deal. Where can i get a new converter at? It stops bogging once it plains out but as long as u not plained out its bogging. Runs great on top side!!

    forget replacing the convertor and get a D-plate and temp chip!

    Is it bogging or cavitating ? if it feels like the clutch is slipping till about 12 mph that is cavitation... These ski's are notorious for that...

    Oh its most defantly bogging.. it takes to long to get on top the water for cavation.. ha.. They gotta web site where i can pick that stuff up yellow93??
