    2003 SC dilemma

i have a 2003 GTX SC with the 185 hp, stock right now, about 80hrs. will be getting greenbox and air intake ad new pump w 12/20.
one of these days i am going to have the SC rebuilt.
i know it is going to have to be upgraded to 06 specs, but is there now "08" specs i can upgrade too????
also i think its pretty expensive to upgrade to 06 specs/08specs...
would it be cheaper to buy a sc off GH.net that is 06 and up with the metal washers already in it???
    but will it fit???
JERRY can you think about this dilemma for a sec and make a recommendation??
i think i am planning to do SC upgrade after this summer, but would be interested in getting a newer sc if the price is right

Look for people dumping SC in favor of Rude's...If not, this SHOULD fit the bill for you...

ya thats what i am thinkin danny, but i think the RXP/RXT (215hp) units wont fit my 185 engine?? different # of teeth on the gear???
can i switch the gears easily?? then i would buy any one of the RXP/RXT units out there with upgraded washers and wheels!!!!!

That upgrade should work on your SC, just SWAP the gear...DONE.

I question putting more money in an 03 ski when Lex doesn't like speed that much anyway.

    Alex, think about this one:
buying a part to replace a part only to take apart the part to make work in your 03 185HP ski???

now I`m not sure about this but does the 08 washers work with an 04-06 17 tooth gear?
    you have PM...

yep thats what i'm wondering, how easy is it to switch gears, or is that something i need jerry to do????
however if i can get a used SC with metal washers for less than what i will spend on a rebuild for the 2003 SC, then it might pay?????
    jerrry?
you are the expert, and know what all the variable costs are.
    any advice?

You would have to get an 06 and up SC to get the upgraded shaft.....The gears are easy to swap, they are the same size and use the same needle bearsing...the teeth layout is just different.....
