You can break it fee if the pump and drive shaft are installed one wrench on the engine coupler and one on the impeller stub shaft. Not recommended but works if the pump and drive shaft is out of the boat carefully use a pipe wrench on the drive shaft.

I have an Solas impeller removal tool you could borrow, I work in Copley OH and could bring it to work on Wednesday morning if you wanted to stop by and pick it up. I think Portage lakes is really close by.

If you get yourself a 12 point metric socket (I can't remember which size), it should fit pretty snugly on the splines and you should be able to get it off. Worked for me and no spline damage...

Matt good point...come to think about it, that wasn't payback for my "drive shaft extender" post regarding your toolbox now was it? LOL

I swear we are like a bunch of kids in a school yard with all our D**K and Boobie jokes. I wouldn't have it any other way LOL .

Here's my impeller removal tool...just get a worn drive shaft with good splines on the impeller end, take a torch to it and bend it and waalaa an instant removal tool that will get any impeller off.
