I stumbled upon these Lazer Helmets - they are for motocross so that's probably the best fit. They have removable, washable innerds so that seems like they'd hold up to the water. Fully ventilated, pretty light and safe. Check out the site and go down to "products" and select "off road." The MX6 series looks cool with the dorsal fin look.

I guess I dont understand why anyone would wear a helmet while rec riding. Maybe on a speed run but not while just riding around.

This is what got me thinking of it. It's winter so something on the head sounded required and it got me thinking about goggles to keep the water spray off. Then I thought about a helmet since it might offer protection from the elements, for the noggin, and a place to secure the goggles. Other than that I never considered wearing one. Hence the question posed to see what people thought as to their opinion. I'm leaning more towards not, but hey I'm bored waiting for my ski to arrive.

rx, man just go for it...
I`m thinkin the gath retractable...
don`t really care if some peeps like it or not, I thinmk it kinda looks spacey, but the visor and ear vents are the ticket.
absolutely - for days that are cold enough to wear, or just to keep the water off your face and the sun off my head...

After having broken my shoulder twice I appreciate the collar bone coverage.

I am a firm believer in helmets, even for just rec riding. My brother (thesepaperwings) took a duck to the face at 50mph, just cruising around. Without the helmet, would have at least a broken nose. As was, walked away with just a killer headache.
