Decompress with copper headgasket??
I am putting a home made turbo kit on to my 05 RXT race ski. I am using a t28 turbo and am looking to run about 14 psi maybe up to 17 psi if I need some more speed. Its a winter enduro ski and we race for 2 hours 100 miles plus at WOT so the motor needs to be strong and relible.
My question is should I use the copper headgasket from the online store and will it lower the compression ratio?
I am going to remove the head anyway to fit a block gard and oil jet.

Or should I just run 2 stock headgaskets?

Well no replys so it looks like i will just use 2 stock head gaskets.
This will be the first turbo RXT in New Zealand!!

With that amount of boost i would run single stock head gasket.

A word about detonation...double gaskets will lower the comp., but u then have no "quench" which is important to staving off detonation, and this is the reason u want to lower the compression. I suppose u could do it that way, but dished pistons or a cam w/ more overlap is a better way. Unless of course u have a 4-tec then it's the EXPENSIVE way!

Drill the rivets out of the new gasket and old gasket and put the inner layer from the old gasket in with the new one.
This will add .010 to the gasket you really don't want any more than that.

I have a similar qurstion.
I have a similiar question. I want to RAISE the compression, has anyone milled the head or block to run a higher compression ratio? Can I run just the middle or outer sections of the headgasket? I dont want to move to the copper one, as this is my recreational ski. I just figure it easier to raise the compression a bit, than pay mad$$$ for extra 3psi of boost. Im used to tuning 10lbs. on my S2000 at 11.5:1, so i figure I can handle this. I was hoping to get it to around 9.5:1 so I can make decent power with a S3 or rude charger. Has anyone done this yet? or have any information on how much I can resurfaceoff of the head/block
Are the specs in the manual on valve/piston clearances, or does anyone have any info on that? how much can be safely milled off? Anyone done this before, I can always throw some clay on the piston if need be.
