    Unhappy Insurance

I called my insurance company today to see how much it would cost to insure My 1988 Yamaha WR500 i just bought last week. they said it was going to cost $200 a year!!!!! I only paid 600 for the ski, in a couple years ill pay more for insurance than i paid for the ski. what do you guys think. this is the first ski i have ever owned and i just bought it for fun. how much are you guys paying.

210 per year for my 2005 RXT. I have it insured for 15k including trailer. I have full coverage. I will keep it insured just incase something crazy happens and I hit someone or something or they hit me. 200 bucks a year is worth the peace of mind

If it were me, each year I'd put $200 into a savings account instead of paying insurance on it. Then, if something happens to it, you've got some money set aside for a new one, but if nothing ever happens to it, you've got some cash set aside to spend as you please! It's what I do for anything that's not absolutely essential, which is pretty much anything other than the house and liability on the cars. The risk is a lot smaller than the reward IMO.

Edit: Unless that insurance contains some sort of medical coverage or something like that, but it'd have to be Extremelly high limits to justify $200 a year for an occasional use toy.

you're going along minding your own business, and some newbie mom with her 3 yr old in her lap turns RIGHT in front of you and you bail but too late...

is it worth 200? If you have the right liability limits it is... if this situation is not covered then forget it.

I insured all my crafts. My main concern was coverage for liability.
