AM I CRAZY or is it BRP?

Ok I just put a Works grate on my 96 XP and I come to discover that what I thought was a cheap cast aluminum stock grate was freaking ABS plastic

WTF? after reading about the problems the GPRs are havinf with aluminum grates I am glad I didn't put any extra speed on this cheap piece of plastic

Not real good for performance but...

    Plastic doesnt corrode.

Plastic wont hurt the impeller if it breaks off, they had a problem with some aluminum grates breaking.

Plastic is cheaper than cast aluminum.

This is what they were thinking. Sad but all they care about is making $.

I was mostly shocked. After all my GTX has aluminum, I figured that all grates were aluminum. I guess I won't assume anything any more

plastic would be fine for the stock grate. there are no 'fins' to pull the ski down and keep it hooked up like other aftermarket grates. all of the force is going up and into the ski. it is there for protection of the pump only, not to increase performance.

also, you are going 60mph, not 80-90mph. there is just a bit of difference in forces there.
