    Fuel booster pump?

So I'm trying to figure out what this thing is on my 785...it is a canister about 4 inches long, 2 in diameter...and is in line between my fuel selector switch and carbs. It has a black and a white wire coming out of it, one going to the battery and one going into the electrical box hooked up to an orange wire. I would think it is a fuel booster pump??? It's too hard to take a picture of so I can't do that but why the hell would someone put this on there? It is not stock for sure.

Well I am very sure that it is an electric fuel pump that the origional owner put on. Now I just gotta figure out if the pulse pump is still working or even there, and WHY he did it. That won't happen because I have no contact info for the origional owner.

I'll have to hook it up to the battery when I get home to see if it makes any noise. I'm about 99% sure it is an electric fuel pump. Pics are not going to be worth anything because it is cramped up under the snorkel tube "thingy" and I can barely get my hands on it anyhow.

Okay, I wired it up to the battery and it is definitly a fuel pump. Sounds like a solenoid fuel pump by the way it pulsates. I have one question now, I have the hot wire connected to the orange circuit and the ground connected to the black wires in the box. It was connected somehow but I accidently pulled the hot wire out of the box without knowing where it went. Now when I put power to the system (connect the battery), the fuel pump comes on without the motor on or cranking. Which circuit should I connect it to so it comes on only when the motor is cranking/on? If it makes a difference, my bidge pump is always on because the regulator is malfunctioning, but the fuel pump used to not come on all the time, just the bildge pump.

I would be afraid to use the elect pump. If you had a leak, it could pump alot of gas into the hull in a short time.

Well I really don't have a choice, it was on the ski when I bought it, but I see your point.

Anyone know which wire circuit I should attach it to?
