Any advice on restoring GPR visor?

I removed my visor tonight to cut air holes in my trunk lid and decided to try restoring it. I had several nasty scratches and cloudy spots from spilling gasoline. I followed the instructions in the post below, and I've been sanding and polishing for hours but can't get it to shine back up. I am almost ready to give up and have it painted or buy a new one.

I bought a new one and then painted it. It looks really good painted, but I think that has already been established.

Paint it is. Now that I have all this sandpaper, I guess tomorrow I'll start prepping the grab handle and have it done too.
