    Cool RXT ceramic washers

I bought a 07' RXT supercharged last year from a dealer in Ohio. When I was at the dealer I specifically asked him if it had the ceramic washers in it and he told me that "the 07 didn't have them and that they corrected it in the 07 model" Is this in anyway true and if not how hard is it to replace those with metal ones? Also, can't wait for Lake Erie to warm up enough to ride!!

he's full of crap it will have ceramics and I would strongly advise replacing them asap.
As for how hard to change depends how good you are with a spanner?
You need to remove the s/c and the drive gear off the back and remove the old washers and fit the new ones there are some special tools to make it easier but can be done without them. Or you could send it to Jerry.

    Question

I figured that! I'm a mechanic but, have one question. Do I need to drain the oil first?

oil in the engine? No. I have an RXP, they are the same 4-tec. you will get a little drop here and there from the Super Charger and that's about it. just put a rag under the super charger just in case the oil drips from the super charger, also it helps if you drop the bolt, it won't roll under the engine. my magnet extraction tool won't work at stainless steel.

So there is no oil surrounding the gear on the shaft?

No, that was one of the issues of this Super Charger, not enough lubrication. They change that design in the '08 X-series. Let me dig up some pictures, maybe this will help you understand better hang in there buddy!

1.Do I need to take the supercharger in two pieces in order to get the two screws holding it to the engine? (open to the inside)
2.Are all those pins holding that gear on?

hold on, I am trying to remember. I change the washers myself. You woud need some special tools. I made my own special tools. I took the cover off because I am an offshore rider = salt water. there was corrosion building up on that round surface you saw. The impeler side nut is a left hand thread. I bought the metal washers from Jerry Green Hulk. There is only 3 bolts that is holding the super charger 2 facing the rear and the hard 1 is on top inbetween the engine and the supercharger. YOU CAN TAKE OFF THE SUPER CHARGER IN 1 PIECE AS SOON AS YOU TAKE OUT THE 3 BOLTS. hope this helps?
