    FS lots of Polaris SL 750 parts for sale

    I have a 1995 or 96 SL750 coming into my shop on Monday for tear down. I may have a good crank, seat, electrics, and all kinds of other goodies,, to include a nice undamaged hull with clean title.     Switching from the old 148mm pump to the regular (short) version of the modular 148mm jet pump will certainly gain you some performance.

    A number of SL owners have gone further, and installed the long(er) pump, which is the same 148mm pump with an additional 4" long extension piece.

    With the usual Polaris long pump arrangement of the jet pump stator (the part with the fixed blades), the impeller ends up siting inside the extension piece. The part around the impeller is always called the wear ring, so the extension also becomes the wear ring. This set up requires a longer drive shaft, since the impeller is now 4 inches farther away from the engine.

    A variation on this is to install the 4 inch extension after the pump stator. The performance gain is slightly less, but you can use the original drive shaft.

    Longer jet pumps can provide better handing, especially when combined with a longer ride plate, the flat plate under the jet pump, which is in contact with the water when you are riding at speed.

    A related upgrade is installing sponsons, which are plastic rails mounted to the lower rear sides of the hull. Stabilizes the ride, improves cornering.
