Thread: oil pump?

    oil pump?

how does the oil pump on a gp800r work?

obviously when i open the throttle a cable turns something on the pump....what does that do...open it up??

how does it pump? just by being open? or do the carbs suck the oil? or gravity?

also...how does the crank get oil?

The pump is attached to the front cover. It spins and pumps the oil from the oil tank into the carbs.

When you pull the throttle you are opening up the oil pump to allow more oil to flow through the carbs.

The fuel and oil is what is lubricating the cylinders/crank

so oil is being pumped always but more when the throttle is open?

so the oil in the crank is just what runs down the cylinder walls unburnt?

Gas and oil come in through your carbs then go through the c,cases.

Do some searching on basic 2 strokes. They really are amazing with no more moving parts than they have.

Fuel/oil mixture hits the crank before it gets to the cylinder. I think someone had a good animation posted in the General Discussion are.
