    Unhappy Mikuni Carbs

How can you tell the difference between a SBN 38 and a SBN 44? I think I have SBN 38's on my 2001 GPR...

Thanks again Bill... I was looking at a parts sheet and got turned around... After I looked at carbs for 2 hours I got straightened out.

Anywhere I can get a couple of Mikuni parts without purchasing a full blown rebuild kit?

I ordered individual pieces from Art at Jetworks. I did this to complete a couple kits I had. No sense going through all the work to change only a couple items.

I take the carbs a step further and clean them up strip the paint off all the SST parts. Then install all new SST allen caps. here is what that set looked like finished. I removed accel pump and chokes and added primer fittings and T-handles.

Are you using just carb cleaner? I have a few areas where it looks like hard water build up. Like calcium in the carbs. can I clean them with a semi abrasive pad?

I use soap and hot water, I completely dissassemble everything then clean them in my sink in the garage. I blow everything dry when done. I use a little silicone spray afterwards to protect the paint. This set was in great shape to begin with. I have had some where there is corrosion on the outside from water sitting on them.
