    Dumb Guy Bilge Pump Question

I should have paid more attention in science class, but I put a Rule 500 bilge pump in my gpr, and trying to remember how to do this. Switch is a cheap plastic rocker switch with three metal prongs and guy at Auto Zone said to solder wires to outer prongs and ignore the middle one.

When I wired up the bilge pump, the switch doesn't turn it off, it will run constantly. I can't remember how I did this 4-5 years ago.

Is it a 2 position switch (on/off) or 3 position (on/off/on) ? If it is a 2 position switch, then it probably has a light for "on". Usually the center is main battery power, and one of the outside prongs is for the current, the other for a ground (for the light). If you have an ohm meter, you can switch back and forth to see what direction the current follows... or just read the directions
