    Just in time for spring.

I could use some pointers. I bought a 02 GP1200R hull about a month ago and I am in the process of building it. I have located a motor, carbs and most of the other items I need. "I Hope"

What are some of the pit falls to watch out for when buying a used engine and also setting it up?

Check the compression with a good gauge.. Make sure the 3 cylinders are within range of each other (less than 10 psi)

I'd personally take the head off and take a look around.

    Good advise

I received my motor today and not to happy. Looks like the thing has been sitting in the corner of a garage uncovered and sucking dust, and the upper block is cracked at the starter boss. I will tear it down and check it over.

    Thumbs down Unhappy delivery

I bought this motor from WMF Watercraft in Millsboro, DE. It was suppose to be clean and ready to run. The pictures he gave me before I paid for it looked good. Well here are a few pics of how it came in, I put the rest of the pics in "members gallery". I don't consider this clean and ready. Not all the parts were with it either. Am I being to critical? The owner seems like he will resolve the issues but it's a bummer. I was hoping to drop and go.

The rust on the crank would bother me a little bit.

Yeah, I am quickly coming to that conclusion. I guess it's time to go Frankensteining.

    Thanks

A few questions before I make comments. How much was the motor? (do not include shipping) and how was it described?
