75.9 mph with full tank of gas
I can't believe it myself. At the Mudbug event i ran a best of 74.6 mph while on the buzzer. The beauty of an event such as Mudbug is you always meet individuals willing to teach you some tricks to increase your speed.
Since the Mudbug event i made these small simple changes.
I took my Worx grate off and installed a Riva grate. I didn't just just bolt it up. I took LOTS of care to ensure that the mating surface against the rideplate was true. You will see by looking at your grates that they dont line up perfectly with the rideplate. I suggest you get out your sander and make this area match.
Also you will notice the 6 counter sunk areas for the bolts holding the rideplate to the hull. I used bondo glass and filled these areas in and sanded them smoothly trueing them up with the rideplate.
Last, i added my Riva 2 degree wedge.
These simple little changes brought my speed up considerably. I am at the camp today so i'll burn off some fuel and get some more speed runs while my fuel level is lower.
Now with these higher speeds im hitting the rev limiter. I'm going to bolt up my PPG speed venturi to drop these RPM's down some and hopefully bring my speeds up.
Whats even more exciting.... i still have two more tricks up my sleeve concerning the hull
I'll post more later in the day!

Okay, i put the PPG speed venturi on and it dropped my RPM's off the limiter to 8400 with occasional flash of 8450 and my speeds increased to the 76'ish range with a high of 76.7. As you can see im still high on fuel.
Why couldn't my ski have been running like this for Mudbug?
Oh, acceleration on the top end feels MUCH better too!

That is awesome.Keep up the good work.

No kidding, you would have beaten Fercho! Man, where did all your new found speed come from?

Jarrett, no kidding! and the acceleration from 70-75 is SICK! it just snaps right up to 75.
The speed came from these very simple things.
Changed to Riva grate which you already have. BUT i trued it to the rideplate. It was uneven in its stock form.
I also filled in the bolts holes for the rideplate with Bondo Glass.
I put the wedge back on.
BAMM! 75'ish and running against the limiter and having to feather off the throttle at WOT.
Picked it up and put the 81mm nozzle on and my RPM's dropped and speeds came up to 76'ish. It's porpoising at those speeds which is slowing me down. Hopefully Stan will get me lined up right with his rideplate mod which will eleminate the porpoising and bring my speeds up some more.
I will post pics of what i have done tonight!

i just got back off the water and i hit 77.0 with 3 bars of fuel.
i'll be writing something with pics along with the changes i made to achieve these speeds so stay tuned

Dang, you are right on Fercho's butt now! Great job man.

whats so crazy is these are subtle changes. even a stock ski would benefit!
