Second ride of season with new upgrades and new numbers

I took the ski out 4/1/08 with 20+mph winds 1-3ft chop with GPS, full tank of fuel left over from last year 87oct not 91oct because they didnt sell it on the water where I bought my last gas from. I got 67.8 which is what I got stock thats into the wind and with it and I did about 4 runs. So today I took it out 4/10/08 still with last years gas, about a half tank left at this point. I only weigh 175lbs, maybe 10mph winds, both days were similar in temps 50 degree water and about 75 degree air temps. Today it was about 1/2ft chop I first got 68.0 with a 1/2 tank, then with the wind I got 68.4, 68.8, and then 69.0, and with a 1/4 tank and no buzzer yet I hit 69.4mph. I did about 2 more runs and then the fuel buzzer went off and I didnt want to take any chance so I got my 2 lil bros and headed back. I was disappointed because I wanted to hit that 70 mark. Any suggestions or opinions?

    One BIG suggestion.
Don't run 87 octane gas in that thing. You are lucky you didn't damage your engine.

Yuh I wanted to put octane boost in it but I never did, just being lazy, but could that cause some reduction in top end or performance?

If 87 was burning and not detonating or preigniting then it will give you the best performance. As mentioned above though the engine really needs a minimum of 90 to be within the manufactures specs for octane.

you should definitely run as high as an octane as possible. but, since you only put 87 in it ONCE, it won't hurt your engine. prolonged lower use of octane for sure will harm it though.

actually if detonation happens, all it takes is once. Just depends on the weather and many other variables.

Boost that octane before you run it again.

Run what it recomends, anything higher in octane, like race gas wont benefit a stock ski, actually may slow it down a little bit.

Tn, he was running 87 octane and I meant boost it to 90 so he doesnt detonate. Of course in florida we have, 87, 89, or 93 only.

i didn't mean racing fuel TN...because we have 90 octane and 93. the higher the better.
