Thread: Gp800r Rpm

    Gp800r Rpm

had the ski out today and got a question

( just been rebuilt top end and carbs)

ski is idling around 1300rpm ( all rpms are on the standard display)

if i go on throttle....i can smoothly go to about 3500rpm and then it just takes off to about 7000rpm.....there is no in-between

i cant remember if this is normal?

also a few times when going from idle to full throttle it would take a sec or two to go....it was like it was thinking about it and then going.....but this only happened when going from idle to full throttle

    any ideas?

you need an aftermarket tach to get accurate rpm readings.

ahh.. that may be the problem. There might be something wrong with your stock gauge that is doing that going from 1300 or to 7000 or whatever the numbers are.. because I know that well from watching like ben hermans videos where you can see the aftermarket tach, it will update like every second or even less than that..

then the idle to full throttle, that sounds like bog to me.. it isn't like revving up real high is it? Like there is no traction.. like you hold it full throttle, and it revs up but doesnt go does it?

the display inst accurate i know....but it is not faulty....you can feel it...your jsut going along and then open up a tny bit and wham your off!...no in-between

the idle to full throttle....no it doesnt rev up like it not got traction....it jsut takes a seocnd or two then rev up and goes......bog sound right....is that carbs?....theyve just been rebuilt

    what all did they do?

a jet ski dealer...about 1.5 hours ago and they done a full rebuild on them...eveyrthing internal cleaned/replced.

the low speeds were set and i altered the idle as it was to low but the high speed look as though they havnt been touched

    does this help?
