edit your project to read...update seats to '06 seat, because '05's are still the big ones...

thanks. not 100% on that mod yet - i could just get a jettrim seat cover. my overall look is something like what is below.
although it may be red where it is green - the red is growing on me lately..

traded my 98 xpl for it. xpl was a limited race boat w/ stock pipe and stock carbs.
i figured the xpl was worth $3000 and this when fixed is worth $5000
i am pulling the cyl head tomorrow night. just need to use my impact gun to remove all the bolts holding it on -- man they are tight

if everything is good when its fixed i may take it off your hands.... thinking about making the 250x race only now

pulled the head last night. not too bad considering it was my 1st 4 stroke dissasemble. looks like i lucked out - just deto (except it is in #2 and #3).
valves don't look burnt, but the #2 piston is toast (lots fo deto) and # 3 has some marks in it. makes me wonder if this engine dropped a valve before it failed this time around, and they left it in after fixing the head.
no chunks of piston missing, no large scratches in the cylinder bores. #3 has some signs of the rings not sealing well (dark black on the cylinder wall from the top to about 1/4" down).
so.... i think the rebuild will require the following at the minimum:
4 new piston kits
fresh hone in all cylinders
re-surface cylinder heads
new valve seats & any other associated parts
