    Wear ring Damage

    After swapping out my Solas back to stock I noticed these marks on the wear ring. What generally causes this? Is this the result of cavitation? I also remember when I added my 2 degree wedge that I did not use sealant on each side because it fit like a glove? Could that have been the cause? Could marks like this around the ring drop my RPM's considerably? Obvious I will need to go to stainless as this is only 7 hours worth of riding. Also, putting my stock impeller back in was a bitch. It was like it was to big.

    yup, thats definately the cause of your low RPM's. Same exact thing happened to me about every 6 hours before i switched to a stainless steel wear ring.

    Switch to stainless and never look back!

    oh, i don't use sealant on my pump wedge either so thats not an issue.

    Crap, I was wondering what to do with that $300 underneath the bed mattress. So what if I can't pay the mortgage, go without eating, and tell the wife and kids no vacation this year, I will have that SS ring.

    these plastic wear rings in the 215SCIC get scuffed up so damn easily... i have 30 hours on my RXT and already flipped the wear ring over to avoid buying a new one.... and already i can feel the decrease in bottom end and mid range pull.

    like every damn 8-10 hours i need a new wear ring to keep it at 100% optimum performance. Even very MINOR scuffing and wear causes noticeab;e losses... anyone else experience this? minimal wear and scuffing and you can feel the ski lose performance... or does it take a major Groove to make a noticeable loss?

    BUT..... 300 bucks is a big price to pay for a SS circle/ring i think

    When I talked to GP about my RPM loss on my RXP. He had
    Asked me about my Wear ring. I told him it was great and he asked me to pull it and look. This might be the culpurt to my Loss also. Maybe I should of looked before I ride tomorrow. I have 16 hours and When The dealer tested it in his tank he was blasting it a little I bet that didn't help.

    Funny more things I think of that I didn't like about my 10 hour service.

    Shibby how much did your Rpm's come back up when flipping wear ring.

    One thing about the plastic wear rings is they continue to deteriorate after every minute that you ride.
