    Single Beep versus Double Beep

I have been having a recurring problem with my DESS key on my 2006 GTX Limited. When I plug the Lanyard in occasionally I only receive a single beep. This typically happens after riding for a period of time and the key is removed. Last weekend my son was nearly stranded when the ski would not start after he was thrown off. I had the learning key in the storage been and told him to try that it. It started right up. When he returned to the beach it took about twelve times of pulling an reinserting the normal key to get two beeps. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Thanks, I hoped it was the key and not the post. I will swing by my dealer in the next week.

I have a different problem I guess. My wife's 2006 GTX is having problems too, but I am sure it is not the key. We bought two GTX's and had them keyed alike. So when she is having trouble I give her my key to try, and still have trouble from time to time.

I got a second key made myself and occassionally both keys will give the single beep. Eventually after pulling the key and reinserting it will double beep. I noticed a couple of trips ago that the post was loose but after I hand tighten it still had the same issue. The few times that I have been to the dealer it will double beep every time. It seems to act up more when I want to go some where quickly like a boater coming my way not paying attention or another PWC to race.

well if your in a hurry to put it on then you may not have a good connection and that will do the single beep some times

a trick i learned (the hard way) after i needed it

Lick your key then put it back in sometimes the salt and stuff makes a bad connection.

The wifes 06 GTX has constant key problems. If the key gets "damp" it won't turn over. Sometimes it will start with the white key, other times that one acts up too. Not a secure feeling if you shut it down while off shore in the Atlantic.
