    Tell me about ATV's...

I want to sell the 1996 XP and buy an ATV. I want to do this so I can launch the RXT and RXP with the ATV. The weight of the skis plus a trailer is to great for my golf cart.

What should I be looking at? Anything to stay away from? It needs to be reliable, but I don't care how it looks as long as it gets the job done. I don't want to spend more than $2,500 to $3,000.

That will not work. No self respecting Yamaha will tow a Sea-Doo unless it's on the water.

I was thinking more along the lines of an ATV, not a quad. I would like for it to have 4wd. The launch ramp is super long and super steep.

    Keith,
if you can locate a 2000-2003 Polaris Sportsman500, you will have a great 4x4 atv for just about any towing or offroading adventure. Plus they fit your budget. I've seen them as low as $2000.

If I were you i'd stay away from polaris. Every one i've ever come across or ridden has broke at one time or another. When they do break they are the hardest things to work on too. Personally i'd go with a honda or yamaha. Something around the 400 to 500cc range will get the job done. Something along the lines of a kodiak or a rancher/foreman depending on the year model. The most reliable one you could get would be a honda trx 300. Although it sounds small it's got a granny low and full time four wheel drive. Something around a mid 90s model will work and they're easy to come by and cheap.I've got a 93 2wd that I put my 17' bass boat in with no problem.

Horse hockey... I wish I had a few pics of the work I put my Polaris Ranger through. Prolly better I dont have any LOL! Nothing but a workhorse.. 03, 125 hours and the worst maintainence task I have had to do is adj the park brake.

Pulls my double load right with two three seaters in and out of the water like a breeze. Rangers are more of a utility vehicle than a ATV And that just under 50mph top end is not to shabby either

I plan to change the spark plug on my 2000 Polaris this year. Honest. I will. Mine has been bulletproof, and I ride over some of the most rocky nasty terrain on earth. Tows my two place around the yard nicely.

I would say get a kawasaki brute force.. but it doesn't fit your budget. That is a really nice ATV.

But as said already the polaris is a good choice they are really not that bad to work on I have 2 yamaha's and 1 polaris currently. I think the sportsman would be a great idea..
