Thread: Switched TOPS?

  1. #1

    Switched TOPS?

Just wondering if I'd be able to install a switch to enable/disable the TOPS on demand...

When I go wave jumping and stuff I'd like to be able to disable it so my engine doesn't bog down when my ski is vertical...

Ok, but I can't afford a RR ECU right now.

I was trying to find a cheap solution with the stock setup

So I was trying to figure out where exactly I need to install the switch inorder to be able to control when the TOPS is on or off.

its probbly on your batt tray.
its a small peice with two wires, i think they are grey and gray-black wires. if you look at your service manual it has it in there.

the system is normally complete. and when you get vert it breaks the conection causing the motor to limp.

connect these two wire together ether permently or add a switch and your top is disabled.

    take you about 10 minutes.
i can show anyone at the bug how easy it really is.

after all the requests im thinking of making a bypass plug for members but its going to have to wait till i get time.

Well, get on it!!! Dammit!!! LOL

I would be interested in this when you put something together. Maybe have a switch down by the battery. When you go wave jumpin, switch TOPS off, then switch it back for normal operation.

Ok, I just took a look at my seadoo and shop manual wiring diagram.

rapid was right, its the black and black/grey wires in the front mounted on the fuse panel.

Basically all you need to do is connect another wire from the black to the gray in order to bypass the switch.

Now the circuit is normally closed, meaning if it opens thats when your engine would bog down. So if you put a switch between the blk and blk/gray wire, it will make sure the system is always closed there for make the ECU think you are not tipping over.

So to recap, switch is off, seadoo is in its normal state. switch is on circuit is bypassing the TOPS module, the TOPS is disabled.

Now finding a waterproof switch without having to have it mailed to me is a whole other issue. LOL

    Enjoy
