    Question Starting Problem

I was out today, on one of my skis, after shutting it down while I was talking to someone for a bit would not re-start. It cranked but wouldn't turn over. I waited a bit, 5-10 minutes, then it had a hard time (pumped the throttle) then started and ran ok. This happen twice today.

    Any ideas?

Since it was cranking, I was thinking a mechanical problem , not electrical.

Goes to show you, I know nothing about motors

    Thanks

Do you mean it was cranking as in a normal you can hear the engine turn over? or you could hear it trying to crank and it was not turning over?

If the latter the hard start makes sense because the injectors were in the start pulse, but the engine was not turning over.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.
It was cranking as it normally does but wouldn't turn over. I guess best described as if it were out of gas.

I'm not sure what you mean about the "start pulse"

ok, the start pulse is for the injectors, they fire at a different pulse width at start versus normal, honestly it was just to much information. sorry

I still do not know what it was cranking normally but was not turning over means.

Did the starter engage and did you hear the engine actually turn over? or did it sound more like just the starter was spinning?

It did not sound like the starter was just spinning. Sorry, maybe i'm not using the right terminolgy. The engine was cranking (turning over) but would not start.

whats the difference between cranking and turning over. ( seriously, I dont know ) It sounded like it was about to start but it wouldn't. ( another example would be like a car that is flooded ).
Sorry to butt in but I happen to be there JW..
