Sealing front and back s/c housing

It called for loc-tite sealant 5910 to engine side of s/c housing but i did not have that so i elected to use HIGH TEMP ULTRA COPPER (ORANGE) SEALANT. Father in-law uses it for building all his high performance engines and told me it would be safe to use??? Is he correct???
    Thanks

    Rob
