update 96 xp starts then stalls

Hey guy's I put the new carb kit in verify solid fuel flow I thought I had this thing licked turns out I have this bog just off idle when I smash it.If I nurse the r's up alittle and hit it it's solid. It's like it is starving for fuel....all jets are stock needle and seat as well.I did not replace the intake gaskets they looked good. The ski is also being tested out of water.

You need to put it in the water, but I would still say you have a problem.

What did you set the mixture screws at ??

There is a low speed adjuster & a high speed adjuster.

Lows should be 1 1/4 out & high speed are closed (on a stock engine with stock carbs).

Do the high speed screws have about a 1/4 turn range? It looks like tabs on the screw to limit the amount you turn them.

Yes, the caps are for tinkerers... Pull the caps off and you'll expose the screw underneath. But that isn't your problem.

Did you try bypassing the fuel selector switch or run with the gas cap loose?

Yes I pull the fuel line off and ran it from a 1 gallon tank did the same thing and i've ran it with the gas cap loose I have not messed with the high speed adjustment at all.......I didn't think of it earlyer but I replaced the lines on the carb with napa 5/8 line instead of 1/4 would this affect the pop off? and give me a lean bog?

Man...I'd hate to see how you made a 5/8" hose seal on a 1/4" barb...

This may be your problem. Did you check your pulse line for cracks/tightness and the mica check valves in the fuel pump for integrity?

3/8 is wrong as well it should be 1/4...big difference.

Wont change pop off but will probally leak.
