    Post New BP fuel 'Invigorate'

BP launches new gasoline formula in 35 markets

    By Susan Anderson
    Thursday, April 03, 2008

This summer, a new BP gasoline formula known as "Invigorate" will be used in three BP gasoline grades — BP Regular, BP Silver, Amoco Ultimate — at stations east of the Rockies. The new formula helps protect vehicles against corrosion, deposit and sludge formation and improves drivability and performance.
Gasoline with Invigorate will be rolled out this year to approximately 5,000 sites in 35 markets, with all remaining markets to be "invigorated" by July of 2009.
When used continuously, the enhanced cleaning formula helps keep engines clean, which in turn maintains drivability closer to that of a new vehicle, allowing cars to run longer.

Well looks like global cooling is going to kill us off here in the next couple of years so I'm not worried about my engines lasting

In all seriousness, don't these kind of additives already exist in all the gas sold in the western states (Arizona, Nevada, California)?

Seems more like marketing hype to me, but what do I know?

More BS aka marketing HYPE, like Chevrons "Techron". It may have more "additives" but it's really just a reason to charge more for a gallon of gas.

My understanding is the "techron"'s are additives proprietary - no duh, but i've been trying to find out recently about what the heck is the real diff if any. A freind of mine's father owned a Texaco for years, recently changing to Valero - so i'll try to find out.

I will say this, Shell Oil gas makes both my GM and Ford trucks run like crap....and this has been different stations, so i've omitted the possibility of a batch problem.

Costco and BP gas works well for my vehicles and as always Chevron.

I figure there has to be some quality/formula difference.

Costco is the least expensive in my area... $3.83 for 87 octane yesterday.

I use to run Shell 101 from the pump in my Trans Am. It ran hard and fast. It also didn't have any engine problems. I also would run 93 from Shell if I had my stuff on a "pump gas" setting.
