Ultra 150 revving up.
A buddy of mine bought an ultra 150 with only 18 hours on it. The previous owner never really used it and it sat for a few years. Its an 03 model and is mint. The guy he bought it from said the carbs needed a bebuild so he took the carbs off, sent them to be rebuilt, then re-installed them when he got them back. Ever since it has been revving extremely high as soon as you start it. Even under a load it revs out.
We ahve checked the throttle linkage and it releases completely and the idle is set very low.
Anyone have any idea what it could be that is causing this to happen? Would an air leak cause this? Maybe the gasket wasnt lined up or the pins werent lined up? Any help would be appreciated.

You are trying to get the top off the f/a with it installed I bet Try taking out the 2 10mm bolts that hold the f/a to the exhaust then rock it back and forth while pulling up on it. It should pop rite off. While you have the carbs off glue the carb gaskets to the manifold with a thin film of silacone or some copper gasket spray. That makes it much easier to put the carbs back on and not knock the gasket off. When you are ready to put the carbs on wipe a thin film of silacone on the gasket. Also be sure you have the vacume slot on the f/a adapter and gasket lined up with the slot on the carb.
