Get a tag kart instead. No shifting with a 125 and has an electric starter. No having to get out and push the kart to restart when you kill it. Trust me it sucks.

Thanks guys, Do you guys know where to look to find a nice used one? 45 hundred is double what we want to spend. Anyone know of any sites with used ones posted up for sale? Were looking at 2,500-3,000 and the Most at spending.

keep an eye on craigslist... my buddy picked up a rotax (non shifter) for under 3K...

My understanding is if you get into the rotax max class you can be competitive for a lot less money as the carts are not allowed to have any mods (I think??)

I know a guy who was selling one with a 400cbr motor strapped to it for real cheap. I'll see if he still has it. They said that they got scared and let off the throttle around 100

You can find 125 Tag karts used for $3K all day long. I would look on craigs list also. Too bad you were not here in Cali. My friend is selling Birel. Check out this list also. http://www.nkn.com/home.asp If you want to race one check with the local racing sanctions. You just missed the EXPO in Il.
