    Virage wont plane?

    Hi,

Here is the deal Last spring I put a new SBT engine in my 2001 polaris virage. I took it out and it ran fine but it had problems planning out. It was ok after it got up and out of the water. I had to lean foward and then it would plane out and cruise. I think maybe it would be the engine allignment or the impeller might need replaced. I just can't figure it out?

    Thanks Kyle

    Welcome to the Green Hulk!

    Fuel injected or carburetors?
    Engine size?

It sounds like you are not getting full power.

What RPM are you seeing at WOT?

What makes you think the jet pump or drive shaft may be a problem?

BTW, have you downloaded the Service manual from the FAQ section here?

    Thanks

    It is a Carbureted 700

I guess I just thought it might be the impeller or the aillignment. Its like it bogs down for a minute or two then takes off. It is worse with more weight on like another person.

I have a manual from polaris that I ordered last spring.

we need to know your MAX RPM when you hold the throttle wide open IN the water....

sounds like carbs and could also be timing..

It is Like 2k when you hold it wide open. Then when it gets out of the water its fine. Sometimes if you take a sharp turn it will do the same thing then it speeds back up.

do a compression check on the engine and verify timing like mentioned in the post above. let us know what you have. did these problems start after you installed the SBT engine?

Yes they did after I put in the SBT motor in. Also the needle seems to vibrate out of the carb.

I will do the commpresion check.

I don't know what happen to the orginal motor. I aquired the ski and it was all torn up and there was peices everywhere. The carb adjustment on the side of the carb was what I was talking about.
