    gp1300r dyna fly 14/20

Question about the dynafly 14/20 distance from the trailing edge to the stator is a lot more than the stock prop why is that. the stock is 3/8" from the middle of the prop to the stator and the dynafly is just a little over 1/2" from the stator with the washer in. I just thought it was a lot of clearence. what have you seen or think about this. thanks.

...that is why on the impellers I use on my ski I get the hub machined so I can setback the impeller up to .200 inch.

The ideal gap between the impeller blade and the pump is 2-3 mm.

so let me get this right. I need to cut the hub down and get the dynafly closer to the stator and the trailing edge of the prop to the stator only 2 mm. anyone else chime in here.

Do sum research b/f ya run out and cut the hub. I know I dont have mine cut but its all in what you are wanting. Rough water short distance or all around & top speed?

You want to move the prop further back (or set back) for improved hook up especially in rough water conditions, or larger horsepower applications. Set back prop loads the pump more. There are advantages to setting the prop back, or in Phillip's example waaaay back , but its not a must do IMO.

Also the Dynafly prop is a different design than the stock prop so you cant really compare the two.

no I hear ya. I was just kinda shocked after installing the dynafly and see the gap a lot more than the stock one. I just woundering why they made it that way seems to me that is cavatation waiting to happen. I am going to try it like it is and see what happens. Thanks for the replys

    yes

machine the outer hub of the impeller .050 in and the inner hub .200 in

also grind on the outer edge of the pump hub to provide clearance for the impeller

once you have done all this you can then run the impeller setback or shimmed out in the standard position, or anywhere in between

On my ski (standard stage II stuff) there was NO SPEED LOSS in the setback position and no significant difference in peak rpm
