    Truing my RXP Hull...

Over the winter I noticed some stress cracks in the "delam zome" on my 04 RXP. It got me concerned to the point that I was gonna address the issue in the spring...Then I happen to get my hands on another 04 RXP hull (motor went to a GPRXP) and decided to build this one up as a good hull...

Other than one stress crack near the tank area, this hull was clean. I started to sand it down and properly true it front/back. What I found was AMAZING, as you can tell by the pics...

I also found that I can hit the hull in specific areas with my bare hand, and could feel the inside layer SMACK...This meant there was a gap on the inside, so the styrofoam was shot. I plan on remedying this with some expanding foam in specific areas...

In the next week I plan to finish sanding, address the foam issue, reglassing the low spots (and other areas), then re-gelcoat the bottom with black gelcoat...before sending the hull to get repainted.....When it gets back, I will be putting in a new pump shoe and aligning it the way it should be....

I have to thank Snoman for allowing me to dirty up his garage a few times....

I thought eliminating the hook was proven to be bad? Per Jerry wasn't it?

Looks like it's coming along good though!

My main focus on this hull was to square up and razor the chines, which are normally rounded...I am trying to tighten up the flow of the water to mimic the GPR hull the best I can...

The hook had to go inorder to make the rest of the lines flow better...Some say its dangerous, some say its not...I know of a few hulls that have been trued like this, and they handle VERY well...My goal is to have a well handling ski, not a speed demon...

And if it don't work out, I always got my other hull to go back too...

I'd love to get rid of the hook on mine...dangerous sounds more like fun to me.

I'd love to take on this project with my 04 rxp... I had it flipped over like that but couldn't bring myself to do all of this yet.. I just don't know enough about gel coating to take on this project yet..

Danny please make this thread as detailed as possible? This may be something I will be doing next winter depending on how my stress cracks hold up this season..

    Thanks!

    Oh and it looks great!

Actually, I'm kind of curious to see what it does with the RE extensions.

Funny you should say that, cuz I won't be running RE's...gotta keep my signature SIDE exhaust!

Speaking of exhaust, you got that RUDE tip yet Jerry?

Jerry, when you removed the hook from your ski back when...did you just do the rear hook area? Or did you true the rest?
